This teriyaki chicken will be the best you’ve ever made! Juicy, tender meat drenched in a ridiculously flavorful sauce. One bite, and you’ll be hooked!

This recipe combines tender chicken with a glossy, homemade teriyaki sauce and colorful vegetables. Whether you're serving it over rice for a complete meal or on its own, the balance of flavors and textures will make your taste buds dance.

Creating the secret sauce

The teriyaki sauce is a pivotal element that brings the dish together. Our sauce combines soy sauce, honey or brown sugar, and a splash of rice vinegar for acidity. We add a touch of mirin and pineapple juice to really increase the depth of the flavour.

To achieve the desired consistency, the sauce will be thickened with cornstarch. The careful balance of these components is what makes the teriyaki sauce truly shine.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 cup broccoli florets

  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced

  • 1 cup snap peas

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

  • 1 tablespoon pineapple juice

  • 1 tablespoon mirin

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

  • Sesame seeds for garnish

  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, pineapple and mirin. Set aside.

  2. Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. Add Vegetables: Stir in the broccoli, bell peppers, and snap peas. Sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

  4. Thicken the Sauce: Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  5. Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
